Our Water/Sewer bill has always been ridiculously high, ($100 on average working up to $114 per month up until July/August and forward. Our July/August bill was  $173 although there are only 2 of us at home, no pool, no sprinkler system and we had no changes to our lifestyle. The recent August/September bill is $208. Same thing no changes from earlier this year. Yet it has almost doubled. Cary went to the city and was told they decided to raise rates on both water and sewer. What the heck?? We already paid more than most places and now they are hiking the rates to almost double? I have found several others who are in the same situation. We are paying more for water than electricity and it is high. Most of us here are average middle class and cannot afford a $200 water bill. It is totally unfair and unacceptable! I don't even think they actually check the meter. When we first moved here we were warned not to water our yards because if a city employee saw it our bill would go up. I thought that was a bit conspiratorial, but based on some of the replies I have had to my complaint, I think that is true and I think that if so, it is insane! We are in a drought and our yards are suffering yet we can't water even a little or we are punished?  Sad that many can't afford the utilities in a rural town of 2400 people!! I have noticed messages on facebook about them getting their water shut off due to inability to pay. I can see why they can't!  Something needs to be done! I would like to take this to the city to fight for those of us who feel the rates are unfair and unaffordable but I have to have 100 signatures to take to them.
