Snow removal, secondary streets.

Snow removal, secondary streets.
The Issue
The policy and classification of "secondary streets" is putting our elders, woman and children at risk. Snow removal is an essential service that all citizens pay for through their taxes and they all deserve equal service. Many residents are at risk of danger and serious injury due to the fact that secondary roads are only salted and not properly cleaned. Many seniors are confined to their homes during and after a snowfall because they are fragile and scared to walk over rough, slippery, icy terrain, to get to the sidewalk, which is a short distance away. They can not walk to get their mail, they are scared to drive because they don't want to slide dangerously out of control. Our children are at risk because they play outside in the snow and are at risk of sliding cars that could possibly spin out and harm them. If you call the city and complain, they send an employee in a massive winter specific truck over to tell you that your street is passable and you will receive no service. We live in a society where equality and safety are the most important, however, the classification of secondary streets discriminates against many people who pay their fair share of taxes and receive less service than other streets. please sign this petition to make the municipality of Mississauga change the classification of secondary streets, have "equal service for all residents" and stop putting our seniors, woman and children at risk, in the name of saving money. No savings or dollar value is worth as much as a life. The city of Mississauga must change this classification in order to protect their most precious assets. Our children, woman and Seniors.
