The old elementary school on Bluff Street in Marseilles, IL was declared unfit for human occupancy more than 20 years ago. The building is known to contain asbestos and has been left empty for many years.

Currently there are rodents, birds, bats and other wild life that have taken up residence there and are leaving excrement around the property. Local children are often seen trying to sneak in the building and many residents are concerned about safety.

Something needs to be done other than arguing with the current owner who would have done something by now if the funds were available. Surely an asbestos removal company could be found to do it at a discount given the situation... then find ways to raise funds if needed. 

Perhaps the community of Marseilles can breathe new life into an old building and give it purpose again.
