I grew up at Ruggles park in Fall River, MA. I had a blast! Between woodchip tag, hide and seek, going down the slides, climbing the monkey bars, swinging on the swings, going on the see-saw or just playing sports. I ended up moving eventually and was not near that park anymore. I recently just moved back to that area and could not wait to head over to the park I grew up in and to my surprise the whole play ground had dissapeared! All that was left was a swing set, what used to be an obsticle course of adventue was just dirt and very few woodchips left over. I was so sad to see that. Not that I was going to play at the playground, but I dont mind swinging on the swings and bringing out my inner child, but I thought to myself, I had so much fun when I was a kid, I lived in walking distance and I looked forward to walking there with my brothers after school and just have fun, what are these kids doing that live over here? Now a days, Its just video games for the kids to have fun, they play virtual sports instead of actually experiencing the outdoors. Even if you did bring your kids here, youd have to form a line to wait for a swing to open up! If this park was fixed up it would bring the neighboorhood together and kids can enjoy the outdoors with their parents, I dont wanna have to drive to a different end of the city or a different city completely to enjoy a beautiful summer day with my kids, I want to be able to just go down the street and let them have fun. This is important for kids to grow up being outside, it would reduce obesity, bringing people to the park could even create more revenue for close by convient stores. So put the Ipads, laptops, video games and cellphones down and lets make a difference in this city. Bring the kids together, show them what real fun is! Lets fix this park up!
