Many of you probably received Michael DeMarco's email today. While eloquently written, it no longer mentions the right turn/left turn only option to avoid traffic flow down University Dr. that was proposed as a compromise at the December meeting. It is to MOVE FORWARD with the plan. If they do not vote to move forward by March, they lose the funding from VDOT. This is NOT a research grant. His quote, "no one will want to use it as a cut through" is misleading. He also says that "This parcel will be redeveloped at some point in time with the developer putting in the access road themselves if we don't do it." So then why spend $100-300,000 of city money (this is money we must repay VDOT if the project doesn't go forward) for this? Please do not let down your guard! Attend the 7pm meeting Tuesday night to protest this plan, as well as the misleading information from the council.
