It has almost been one year to the date of JayShawn Carter's death and his family has not received one single answer. Not one step of progress has been made in this case. Meanwhile, the people who are perceived to be responsible for his death have been allowed to continue life as if nothing bad has happened. These people have even allowed to participate in daily and extracurricular activities in the presence of JayShawn's friends, family, and teammates. We believe this is both painful, dangerous, and completely unfair. The Carter family has been in contact with detectives from the Fairburn police department every single day for almost one year, and have received the same response which is to say no progress has been made in this case because ballistic testing is still being conducted. It is our belief that the City of Fairburn may not have the proper resources to handle this case at this time so we are asking that the case be moved to Fulton County jurisdiction. There is no circumstance on earth that should exist where the murder of a child isn't important enough to move swiftly to resolve that case.
