PASS AN ENFORCED MASK MANDATE IN ENID, OK
The Issue
City of Enid is currently experiencing a public health crisis. In 17 days, the number of active cases in Garfield County, OK have more than doubled to 644 cases on Nov 24, 2020. Enid, Oklahoma is showing 108.04 cases per capita of 100,000 for 7 days. On November 6, 2020, Enid, OK "only" had 46.67 cases per capita. Our healthcare workers are overwhelmed. We have asked to be heard, yet we have been ignored by our City Council.
The Governor and City leaders have asked residents of Oklahoma to wear a mask. Yet our cases continue to increase.
Enid City Council members have been provided information showing the crisis. That information is being negligently ignored while innocent people continue to get sick and die.
By Enid City Charter; Section A.3.40. Health Powers, "The City of Enid shall have power, by ordinance duly passed, to regulate and prescribe such rules and regulations deemed advisable or necessary to protect the public health, public safety and comfort."
City Commissioners and their actions constitute dereliction of duty.
Signers of this petition request that commission pass a mandatory face mask ordinance and limit large gatherings. Such ordinance must include enforcement details since many Enid residents have not taken appropriate actions voluntarily.
