"Phase Two" Build for the High Ridge Skatepark

"Phase Two" Build for the High Ridge Skatepark

The Issue

The skateboarders of El Paso, Texas, feel that there is a need for a "Phase Two" build to complete the unfinished High Ridge Skatepark. The park has been open for years, but continues to be the only skatepark in town that still does not have lights. We also believe that the park has many unfinished features, such as the empty planters in the middle of the park and open ends, where the flow of the park stops. We would like to see the following improvements to the park:

Lights, double the skateable cement area, shade, water fountains, bathroom facilities, electrical outlets/charging stations, park maintenance on the current park obstacles, more progressive obstacles that allows for local skaters to improve and compete at an international level. You never know which local kid from the area will be the next pro skateboarder from El Paso(but they need the proper conditions to aspire to that position!).

The skateboarders of El Paso would like to request input in the design and planning for the park. This is a crucial aspect, because too many times these parks are created without the proper input from the people intended to be using the facilities.
