Alberta is home to over 300 species of bees, but for how long?? 

In honor of National Honey Bee Day we request The City of Edmonton start a initiative program that leads the way in the future of Bee’s across the globe. We ask that City owned buildings & land become outfitted with Bee hives. An example of such successful establishments is the The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton and the many other Fairmont hotels across Canada, who as of June 2015 created over 20 pollinator Bee hotels.

•   On April 25th The City Of Edmonton began permitting Urban Beekeeping.

•   On June 23rd 2015 a ban was placed on one of the most harmful cosmetic pesticides used by the City. While it is a light ban, it still has a major impact on our immediate environment.

•   On July 2015 The Edmonton Area Land Trust installed 1 Bee hotel in The Edmonton Community Foundation(9910 103st NW).

These are all steps in the right direction. Let's take the lead in creating a sustainable future for the Bee's. It is a lot easier than the Blatchford Community project Edmontonians are all proud to have.
