Stop cutting the Detroit Public School's budget

The Issue

The budget cuts for Detroit's public schools will eliminate 853 DPS jobs while reducing remaining workers wages by ten percent. In a time where unemployment is the country's largest plague, eliminating these jobs harms Detroit and the economy. Along with the immense amount of jobs being eliminated, the budget cuts will also increase class sizes in the public schools. Larger class sizes can be uncontrollable and leads to less personal attention from teachers. A good education leads to a better life; keeping Detroit children in school will help break the cycles of violence and poverty that plague Detroit. How can we expect future generations to continue to save Detroit if we take away from their education?
