Place a grocery store or other business at old Albertsons location in San Miguel Ranch

The Issue

Ever since the Albertsons left The Shops at San Miguel Ranch, the parking lot and building have been an eyesore to nearby residents.  The parking lot near MacKenzie Creek Park had been an area where individuals loiter in their vehicles, drink alcoholic beverages, smoke marijuana, litter and even sleep in their vehicles.  As of late, the parking lot has been an area where illegal street racers congregate. They then fix their vehicles in the lot and ultimately drive away with their loud exhaust disturbing nearby residents.

I know other residents in the area feel the same way, but have not yet attempted to make a change or contact the City of Chula Vista, Albertsons or Merlone Geier to make their feelings known.

The goal is to gather enough support to put pressure on all individuals involved to place some sort of business, whether it be a grocery store or other viable business there. With the possibility of the old Salt Creek Golf Course being used for housing and the newly approved project to connect Jamul to eastern Chula Vista, this will increase vehicle traffic in the area and could be a place for residents to stop by on their way to or home from work.  Please support this petition because not only will it bring more business to The Shops at San Miguel Ranch, but also increase the likelihood people will patronize other businesses as well in the area. It will also help clean up all of the loitering and litter going on with an abandoned building and no oversight.
