Support Swagger against unlawful attacks
The Issue
Swagger is currently a restaurant located at 5050 South Prairie, Chicago, IL 60615. For the past year, the establishment has been working with the local Alderman to change its license from restaurant to an entertainment center which would consist of a PPA license and Outdoor Patio License along with switching the incidental liquor license to a tavern license. The community that surrounds Swagger is in full support of the changes and the neighborhood residents are in full support of these changes. Swagger is one of the few black businesses left in a predominately black neighborhood. The local Alderman withdrew her support for the new license after initially being in full support only two weeks before Swagger was to be licensed without giving a valid reason.
When the right to free enterprise, especially in your own community, is taken from you, then it's time to stand up and fight this injustice. The police have harassed the business on a constant basis and tried the close a legal business without a legal reason. There hasn't been a criminal history at the establishment, never a fight nor any law violations cited against the business. Swagger is part of the positive growth of the area in which it resides. Please help it stay a vital part of the community instead of it being ran off like the rest of the black owned businesses.
