Petition for the Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center

The Issue

MISSION:

The Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center memorializes the valorous actions of the recipients of our nation's highest military award, and promotes the history and character associated with their gallantry, from the First Medals forward.

Originally dedicated in August of 1945 as Coolidge Riverside Park, Coolidge Park was named in honor of Signal Mountain resident and WWII Medal of Honor Recipient Charles H. Coolidge.

The Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center will complete this honor by providing a place that will help educate residents and visitors about the heroism of Charles Coolidge and properly recognize Chattanooga as the birthplace of the nation’s highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor.

The Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center will only utilize approximately 4,400 square feet of space in Coolidge Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The remaining area will remain an open, accessible public green space that all residents and visitors can still walk through and use as they do today.

Join us in support of this important mission to remember the birthplace of the Medal of Honor and complete the park named for Chattanooga's own Charles H. Coolidge.
