Unity Village Needs NEW Site

Unity Village Needs NEW Site
Why this petition matters

Unity Village is the first tiny home community development in Bellingham, WA. Unity Village is directed by Homes Now in partnership with the City of Bellingham, WA. Homes NOW spearheaded the Housing First model by integrating tiny home development as a shelter solution. Homes NOW has partnered with Lummi Reservation and Bellingham, WA to provide alternative affordable housing solutions in the design of tiny home communities.
Unity Village is a unique and vibrant community of sustainable living that provides cooperative transitional housing. It is currently located near the waste water treatment plant on McKenzie in the downtown Fairhaven area. Local supporters are welcome to visit Unity Village and its guests!
Unity Village houses up to approximately two dozen guests and is permitted by the City of Bellingham under emergency shelter ordinance. Local supporters are seeking ongoing permit and site location. City planning and site location can offset disruptive upheaval and moving costs and provide the continuance of positive community connections, safety, and sustainable living for Unity Village residents. Site planning and efficient location of Unity Village is crucial to the health, safety, and quality of life our community expects for all residents and neighbors of the city.
The current city site hosting Unity Village is scheduled for city development which will displace Unity Villagers if a new city site is not identified for Unity Village relocation. Community supports Unity Village! Please add your name to the list if you do too!
I am signing this petition to help Unity Village residents sustain optimum living and relocation conditions by requesting that local planning and development leaders of the City of Bellingham, Whatcom County, WA authorize Unity Village continuance of stay either at the current location and/or relocation to new city site suitable for maintenance. City planners and organizers actions of support are vital to Unity Village.
