SAY NO TO RAZOR WIRE

SAY NO TO RAZOR WIRE
The issue
South East Water has installed razor wire to the roof of many of their assets including the Beaumaris Pumping Station at 2 Reserve Road. While they don't need a permit, they also elected not to consult or advise the community as they knew that their low cost solution would not be liked and would rightly solicit a negative response.
It was installed without consultation or warning in July 2019, an inappropriate and severe measure to ward off trespassers from a “non-high security” property, a cheap and selfish attempt to reduce the exposure of the stakeholders in the public utility, regardless of the visual travesty.
Razor wire is well known to have harmful psychological effects and induce depressive thoughts and maintain an overwhelming sense of oppression. The UK and France have lead the way in banning the use of razor wire on its public building.
The use of razor wire to deter trespassers in our community neighbourhood is nothing less than severe with a total disregard to the visual amenity we all admire and respect, for which we have paid dearly to enjoy in our beloved Beaumaris. Put simply it devalues our neighbourhood, devalues our community and decreases our property values.
Join with us, add your name and help us put community pressure on South East Water to remove the razor wire.
Say NO to razor wire.
