Aviary Decor is a small, family-owned furniture store, art gallery and wine bar that has been operating for 10 years on South Lamar. A very quiet and pedestrian destination for neighbors throughout Zilker, Barton Hills and Bouldin. Due to persistent complaints by individuals in Zilker Neighborhood Association, Aviary has seen their permits stalled for months, then approved and more recently revoked by the City of Austin. Needless to say, this malicious harassment will force Aviary to eventually close their doors. As someone who resides 250 feet from Aviary, I've never been able to hear any noise from their establishment. We hang their art on the walls of our home, and we walk there to meet neighbors at least once a week. Some of us even call it "our second living room." It would be an utter shame to see this business close, while the City continues to rapidly approve massive development projects up and down the South Lamar corridor. PS. We adore ALL the local owned businesses nearby, including Black Sheep Lodge, Opas, Golden Goose, Barley Swine, Henris, Olivia, La Feria, Sazon, Corner Bar, and Barlata. All these businesses are targets, and we must work together to save them.
