Vaccinate the animals that are brought in to the animal control shelter.
The Issue
Currently, the Angleton Animal Control Adoption Center has a breakout of parvovirus. One dog that I am personally aware of was adopted in what seemed to be a healthy condition, and died of the virus. It has been found in other dogs, around the building, and in the yards and local dog park just outside. The dogs and cats brought in are not vaccinated and do not receive so much as a check up by a veterinarian, even though they will be in cages next to beloved family pets and able to spread any infections they may carry. I am asking the City of Angleton to provide the rabies, bordatella, and parvovirus vaccinations and a veterinary exam upon arrival into the shelter to ensure the health and safety for these animals and all others in the vicinity. Currently, with the virus in the shelter and surrounding grounds, AND animals leaving the shelter potentially carrying it, dogs that have not even been in the shelter can be vulnerable.
