The animal control in the town of Altus OK has crossed into behavior that at best can only be considered abusive and illegal. If a person on the street were to engage in even partial behaviors, they would be arrested and charged. Some of the examples of their heinous acts include dogs that were tagged for rescue being murdered the very same day they were to be taken to foster, allowing dogs to literally starve to death under their care, and allowing tiny kittens to die a slow an horrible death due to diahreah. To top this off, though reports have been sent to the police chief and other city officials numerous times, nothing has been done. Even the local paper refuses to print anything negative regarding this situation. It is unclear if this is from fear of retaliation or a willingness to keep the general public unaware of the deplorable issues of this Animal Control.  The Sgt. who 'manages' the AC has competely eliminated the abilities of most rescues to be involved and as such has doomed even more of these helpless souls to die. He refuses to allow rescues to network any dogs which he thinks might be 'adoptable' because he is more interested in making a dime than saving a life. Therefore, the dogs and cats go into this facility...sit for a week hoping for someone to come...and THEN MAY get the chance to be forwarded to rescues. To further complicate the situation, the primary rescue that had worked with the shelter for a number of years providing both medical attention and needed shots for the animals has pulled out because of refusal to participate or support in any way the murderous and unethical acts of this shelter. Below are the faces of just three of the victims. Something must be done and it is readily apparent that no one from the mayor, to the newpaper editors, to the Cheif of Police neither care about the animals nor have the courage to deal with the situation. The only hope these innocent creatures have is people who are removed from the situation speaking out on their behalf. Please sign this...post it...share it.
