In 1880, Silverton had a roller skating rink above one of the stores downtown! A roller skating rink would be good for our community year round. People of all ages could exercise and have fun. No discrimination, we could have lessons, birthday party’s, school field trips! There’s no place in town for people to roller skate or roller blade safely. Since the closest rink is in Portland, and 1 in Salem open 1 night a week from 7pm until 9:30pm. I think Silverton would prosper. 
it would create jobs for our community in building the rink, also jobs for a few people to run the rink. We’ll need a small concession stand, someone to either buy or donate the skates, to work the floor. We can have someone build the roller walkers for the people who are beginning to learn to skate. A DJ to plan and play the groovy music to skate to! Silverton has a bowling alley, a pool a cool skate park, football and baseball fields, a roller skating rink could be used all year round. I’m 65 years old, recently I went roller skating with my daughter, grandson who roller bladed and 4 year old granddaughter who wore her beginners roller skates. We all had so much fun. The rink that we were at allowed people to bring there own skates or blades, they also rented skates for 5.00, rented roller walkers for 5.00, the entrance fee was 8.00 for 13.00 it was well worth the fun!
