Stop sexual abuse
The Issue
More than 70% of sexually abused children are between 10 and 18 years old. It may cause a nightmare that keep on bugging the victim every night. It also may cause anxiety, phobias, low self esteem, fear, distrust, sadness, embarrassment etc. The lifetime consequences of sexual abuse as a traumatic experience does not simply end because at some point in time the sexual abuse did; rather it is known to create specific long-term problems that have the ability to disrupt women’s lives. When women become mothers, their children can also experience specific kinds of problems stemming from their mother’s trauma of childhood sexual abuse. Schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, campuses, and cultural or religious communities may feel fear, anger, or disbelief if a sexual assault happened in their community. Sexual violence endangers critical societal structures because it creates a climate of violence and fear. The psychological effects of sexual violence have been linked to long-term health risk behaviors. Reactions can range from PTSD and eating disorders to anxiety and depression. Physical impacts may include personal injuries, concerns about pregnancy, or risk of contracting an STI. Economic impacts of sexual violence include medical expenses and time off work. The purpose of this petition is to keep young people, parents and city governments open about sexual abuse and to prevent it. And to reduce the increasing rate of people who has been sexually abused and to help those who seek justice and guidance.
