STOP the Park City Landfill

The Issue

We can’t let the Utah Division of Waste Management & Radiation Control approve a dangerous landfill to be filled with contaminated soils in Park City's own backyard.

Sign this petition if you oppose a new landfill to be located on the northwest corner of the Kearns Blvd. and Richardson Flat Rd. intersection.

This landfill would be near:

  • children's playgrounds
  • hiking trails
  • sport fields
  • businesses
  • a hospital
  • a residential neighborhood
  • a busy intersection without a traffic signal
  • a fresh water creek

These are the issues this landfill could cause:

  1. Blowing contaminated dust hazard
  2. Increased air pollution from heavy equipment
  3. Increased heavy dump truck traffic at a busy  intersection
  4. Contamination risk to Silver Creek from leachate running underground downhill
  5. Injury to Park City's reputation as an environmentally friendly city

It is better to continue sending contaminated soils excavated from within Park City limits to landfills out of the city far from people and sensitive environmental areas.
