Redo Greenleaf Skatepark

Redo Greenleaf Skatepark
The Issue
We are requesting money to redo the Greenleaf Skatepark. We have a large number of volunteers ready to help make the new skate park a reality. The park is currently in poor condition. The numerous cracks, rough ground, and loose obstacles make skating there very dangerous. There are also many obstacles that are unskateable because of their design. There are many obstacles in the park that have never even been skated before.
With the closing of Rye Airfield, the skateboarders of the seacoast area are left with no area to practice within a 10 minute drive. Because of this, many people are forced to skate downtown where it is disruptive, loud, and dangerous to everyone in the area. Skateboarding was also made illegal in downtown Portsmouth, so they are left with no legal option to skate. With the COVID pandemic, this is one of the few safe activities left to do in Portsmouth.
We hope that the Greenleaf skatepark can be a place for beginner, intermediate, and expert skaters can all come and help each other progress.
