Mandatory Spay/Neuter and Microchipping in Laurens County, GA

Mandatory Spay/Neuter and Microchipping in Laurens County, GA
The Issue
With the mass of animal over population in Dublin-Laurens County, GA- we seek to decrease the strain on both the community and County through mandatory Spay/Neuter and Microchipping.
By mandating Spay/Neuter, this will decrease the numbers of unwanted pets in an overwhelmed community. Required microchipping would allow missing pets to be reunited with their families, before unknowingly being sent to new homes, or rescues by concerned citizens. This would also lessen the chances of being lost to euthanasia with the County's current 5/10 legislation. This legislation states animals without a collar are euthanized after 5 days, while those with collars are euthanized following 10 days.
This change in legislation would not affect licensed breeders, but would decrease backyard breeding, and spread of illness through unvetted animals.
