My son loves skateboarding and always goes to this park when we do not  travel to a skate park in Hawaii Kai or Maikiki that are the closest to Kaimuki.  He proposed the idea to me  because there is a large open grass field perfect for a concrete skate park.  Skating on the obstacles present at the park he felt was dangerous since it was not meant for skating.  A skate park at this location would be beneficial since it would be convenient, safe and a central location for skaters to gather at a specific location instead of skating at illegal places and dangerous skating around the neighborhood due to no sidewalks.  The skate park would also help continue to unify the growth of the Kaimuki community.   

This petition is to show support and to prove that there is a genuine local need for a concrete skate park in Kaimuki.  

Requests for a skate park in Kaimuki date back over 20 years.  It is time for skateboarding to be represented equally in our communities park system.  

Skate parks are proven to increase health, well-being, community cohesion whilst reducing social exclusion and anti-social behavior.  The skate park will not only benefit skate park users, it will enhance the town and will be an asset to the whole community.
