Change Sexist Dress Code at Citrus Schools.

The Issue

The dress code is sexist, this is very clear. The dress code targets women and implies women's bodies are seen as "distractions."  Why do girls have to fear whether or not what they are wearing is "appropriate" or not? Girls should not have to worry over their clothes. This causes distractions for them, how can women focus on their education if we are constantly being chased down, pulled out of class, and sexualized. Putting girls in detention for what they wear is distracting them from receiving the education schools are so worried about. Girls clothing is not the distraction it is made out to be, the admin sexualizing CHILDREN is the problem. We should not have to be in fear that our bodies are being analyzed every day. It is uncomfortable for women. Admin focus more on whether our shoulders, thighs, stomachs, etc. are showing than on the students mental health. Telling girls to "cover up" causes insecurities, it makes women feel uncomfortable in their own bodies. Instead of focusing on whether you can see my shoulders, schools should start focusing on the students well-being. Schools are so big on making students feel welcome and safe, but how are they supposed to feel safe and welcome if we are being criticized for what we wear. My body is NOT an object. Girls do NOT wear the clothes we wear for attention. We wear what we wear because that is what we feel comfortable in. My chest, shoulders, legs, and stomach should never be seen as a distraction. The dress code teaches women that we are objects to men. It also gives an awful view of men, it makes it seem as men only see women as objects. The dress code is a problem that has been talked about every year and is always shut down. This is our time to make a change. The dress code targets women and that has to stop. If girls bodies distract you in a school setting you should not be a teacher/administrator.
