Accidents caused by drunk drivers have become almost like an everyday thing.  Drunk driving had contributed to this road trauma.  Putting other peoples life at stake is indeed a very selfish act and a very serious offence.  We need a much heavier sentence to stop further fatalities caused by these irresponsible people.  It is high time to revise The Road Transport Act for drunk driving   RM10, 000 and maximum 1 year imprisonment is just too lenient for these irresponsible people. It is sickening to see these DUI drivers get scott-free and repeat their acts. We need to put these irresponsible people off the road for good. It is sad to see children losing their parents, women losing their sole breadwinner and lives wasted by these thoughtless selfish alcoholics. Heavier punishment must be imposed to knock some sense into their head.

There is no absolute safe level of alcohol consumption for competent driving. After a few drinks, driving ability is affected and the greater the chances of causing accidents.  We cannot stop them from drinking but we have to educate them to be responsible for their habits.  DRINK BUT DONT DRIVE . It is essential that heavier penalties be imposed to reflect the gravity of this offence. We need to rid DUI off our road.
