Save Hyderabad from Climate Change

Save Hyderabad from Climate Change
Climate change is a pressing issue in the current day and age. Many people have already been victims and suffered as a result of climate change as such we must act as soon as possible to stop climate change. Hyderabad is one such city where there is an abundant amount of pollution contributing to climate change. The government has taken few actions to mitigate the effects which are causing an increasing amount of problems. Even still climate change is known by most citizens of Hyderabad.
This petition is intended to convince the government to take larger steps in order to improve waste management in Hyderabad so that we can reduce the effects of climate change on our environment. We believe that the government is not adequately addressing the issue of the problems in the city as such we the citizens must take the initiative to convince them.
Hyderabad generates around 7.51 lakh tonnes of waste or about 751,000,000 kg of waste with only about 20% of it actually being recycled. When the waste is transported to a dump yard only about 20% of the waste would be recyclable this is due to it being wet waste. Wet waste includes cooked food, uncooked food, vegetable and fruit peels, etc. Since the wet waste mixes with the recyclable waste they are unable to separate causing the recyclable waste to be dumped in turn increasing the pollution in Hyderabad which contributes to climate change.
Hyderabad is losing its battle against climate change and waste is a major cause. This is as waste produces greenhouse gases which heats up the environment and depletes the ozone layer contributing to climate change. However, one way we can mitigate this is with the use of Organic waste converters(OWC) as this will allow wet waste to convert into compost for farming. This will reduce the amount of waste we dump as well as remove the threat of wet waste contaminating recyclable waste.
If stakeholders in their communities and homes were to adopt such devices it could directly reduce the problem. The government could also help by using these converters in their own building and distributing the compost to farmers. This would reduce waste in turn reducing climate change.
The goal of this petition is to raise public awareness about climate change in Hyderbad and provide a feasible solution.
