Citizens of Charleston County Petition for Additional Pickleball Courts at Moultrie Park

The Issue

Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the country, has taken off in Charleston across a broad demographic of age, gender, and race.  With the growing popularity of the sport of Pickleball, there are often crowds at the two existing courts waiting to play. Players regularly choose where they live and vacation based on the proximity of pickleball courts.

There is a need for four additional courts at the only pickleball site on the Charleston peninsula (Martin Park’s two converted junior tennis courts are dangerously small).  Many players bike or walk to this facility and do not have transportation to leave the downtown area to play at other facilities.

We, the following citizens of Charleston, request that four other courts be added to the Moultrie Playground at Colonial Lake.
