Why this petition matters

The citizens of Loudon are against building a Dollar General Store in the middle of town. This particular store will be bordering Mulberry Street, Ward Avenue and Cedar Street. There are many reasons for the opposition for this store. First, the increased traffic in a residential area. We have children playing around these streets and people walking their dogs. We want our children to be able to play safely without the risk of being injured due to increased traffic. Secondly, Loudon already has a Dollar General, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree within a 2.3 mile radius from the proposed location of the new Dollar General. There are 7 Dollar General locations within 10 miles of Downtown Loudon. The new store has been voted on and approved by the Planning Commission. The City Council will have their workshop on April 11th @6:30 at the Municipal Building on hwy 72 and this topic will be discussed. Come out and voice your concerns, respectfully, as Loudon citizens. Several people have expressed thoughts of making that area a beautiful park for the children in this community. We need to ensure our elected officials understand what the people of Loudon want.
