Citizen's Voluntary Letter of Apology and Gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister & leaders
The Issue
Subject: A Voluntary Expression of Gratitude and Faith in Constitutional Decorum
Respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji,
We, the undersigned citizens of India, are writing this letter with deep respect and gratitude.
In the last few days, we were deeply saddened and disappointed to see abusive and undignified language being used on public platforms against you and other extremely senior leaders of our country.
We are citizens who are open to change and who fully respect the constitutional right to protest and dissent under Article 19 of the Constitution of India. However, we believe that any change or criticism must be expressed with decorum, non-violence, and respect for our democratic institutions as guided by our Constitution.
It was painful to see teenagers using abusive language against a 75-year-old senior leader who has served the nation with utmost efficiency and dedication for decades, and also for other top leaders (in power & opposition, both), who have spent decades working.
As ordinary citizens, we want to say that this abusive tone does not represent us.
We voluntarily and humbly wish to:
1. Apologise for the undignified manner in which dissent was expressed in public.
2. Express our sincere gratitude for your tireless service to the nation.
3. Reaffirm our faith that dialogue in India should happen with dignity and within the framework of law.
The world has seen many upheavals against governments. Let the world now also witness that Indian citizens know how to express gratitude with grace.
This is a completely voluntary, citizen-led initiative with no political affiliation. No one is forced to sign it.

हम भारत के नागरिक, सम्मान और कृतज्ञता के साथ यह पत्र लिख रहे हैं।
पिछले कुछ दिनों में सार्वजनिक मंचों पर आपके और देश के अन्य अत्यंत वरिष्ठ नेताओं के प्रति जिस अभद्र भाषा का प्रयोग देखा गया, उससे हम बहुत आहत हैं।
हम परिवर्तन के लिए तैयार हैं और संविधान द्वारा दिए गए विरोध के अधिकार का पूरा सम्मान करते हैं, लेकिन हमारा मानना है कि विरोध शालीनता, अहिंसा और संवैधानिक मर्यादा के साथ होना चाहिए।
एक 75 वर्षीय अत्यंत कार्यक्षम और समर्पित वरिष्ठ नेता के लिए ऐसी भाषा का प्रयोग देखना पीड़ादायक था।
हम स्वेच्छा से, बिना किसी दबाव के, क्षमा-याचना और आभार व्यक्त करना चाहते हैं। यह पहल पूरी तरह से नागरिकों द्वारा, नागरिकों के लिए है।
