It is not logical for the United States to allow animals to be used in circuses, you can help suppress this needless issue. Circus animals have been around for hundreds of years, and so has the cruelty. Times have changed and now we know better then to continue this horrible cycle. There are no pros just cons for the U.S to allow animals to be used in circuses. The animals in these cuscuses are often abused, dangerous, and not needed. Therefore, using animals in these acts should be illegal in the United States.
There is no need for animals in circuses, having them just leads to cruelty, safety concerns, and for what reason other then they attract audiences, but other acts can attract audiences just as well. Other country’s such as Bolivia have already outlawed circus animals, if they can stop the unnecessary cruelty then why cant we. During these acts the animals in them are forced to perform physically exhausting tasks for our amusement, but we can be just as easily be amused by amazing human acts. Many cases of animal abuse in circuses have been reported. A former Ringling Brothers Circus employee recently released a declaration talking about his experience while working for the circus. In his declaration he stated, “Sometimes, from outside the barn, you can hear one baby start screaming, and then the others will join in. Sometimes they would start crying when they saw their mothers brought in from outside”. Baby’s referring to baby elephants. Yet, the federal government has still not taken a stand against this disgusting cruelty. Until now, with your help we can stop this senseless cruelty. It’s time to make a change for the well being of these amazing animals and us.
Circuses that involve animals are inhumane, cruel, and even pose a public safety hazard; therefore they should be eliminated for good. Though some might say that having circus animals is humane, safe, and necessary. Other sources and myself say that electrocuting and stabbing innocent animals, and breaking the spirits of baby elephants by locking them in a dark for over 20 hours a day is anything but humane. People being attacked and even killed every year by these wild animals proves that circuses are unsafe. The fact that an all-human circus (Cirque de Soleil) in one year makes 850 million dollars proves that these animals aren’t necessary for circus’s to thrive. I am very passionate about this issue and I hope you can see and understand why. My hope in writing this petition is that after reading this you see something needs to be done, and it can be done. I just ask of you that you truly consider this issue, I genuinely thank you for taking the time to read and consider my message and view about this issue facing our nation.
