Justice for a wrongful Termination - BOYCOTT RUBY TUESDAY

The Issue

Getting Fired After 11 Years shouldn't Be This Easy.

DOES THE AMERICAN WORKER STILL HAVE RIGHTS?????

PLEASE READ

Please send Ruby Tuesday an email and let them know what they did was wrong. A single dad taking care of his daughter and granddaughter gets fired for using a nickname. If she didn't like it, she should have asked him to please stop. Calling corporate after telling the GM everything was alright was undermining, deceptive and just mean spirited.

Read the below story and let Ruby Tuesday have a piece of your mind.

He's a Big Teddy Bear, He can be loud, He's been known to crack a lot of jokes, BUT HE'S NOT A RACIST!!!
I am posting this out of disgust at the way Ruby Tuesday has treated my brother in law, Larry Alvarado Jr
BOYCOTT RUBY TUESDAY!!!
After 11 years of faithful service to Ruby Tuesday, he got fired because a female employee who is a Native American called corporate and told them he was a racist. This all stems from my brother in law's knack for providing his family members, friends, and coworkers nicknames. The coworker(T) who has only been with Ruby Tuesday for 5 months seemed to be his friend. So, he came up with the nickname "Chief Wahoo." for her. Larry is a sports fanatic and the name simply came from the Cleveland Indians Mascot. For 5 months he and T got along well and often joked with each other. Then, out of nowhere she freaks out last week and started to complain about the nickname. Larry approached her and said he had no idea that the nickname offended her and he was very sorry. He said he didn't mean to upset her and it would stop. He asked her why she didn't tell him earlier. She just went off on him and called him the biggest racist she's ever known. The other workers and managers at Ruby Tuesday were all shocked by T's behavior and no one was under the impression that the nickname ever bothered her. They have worked with Larry for many years and told her that there was no racial motivation behind the name and asked why she didn't just ask him to stop if it bothered her. Larry apologized, the managers spoke with her and everything seemed to be alright. However, after she left the managers office and specifically told the GM that everything was okay, she contacted the corporate office and told them that my brother in law was the biggest racist she'd ever known and she couldn't work with him. Someone from the corporate office did visit the store and the GM defended Larry and said he thought that Theresa overreacted and that she never gave the impression that Larry's nickname was offensive. Nonetheless, two days later, after 11 years of service and commitment to Ruby Tuesday, he got fired. The corporate office didn't even sit down with Larry to get his side of the story. All it took was one pissed off woman, with a bad attitude to call and accuse him of being a racist. WOW!!!! If that's how Ruby Tuesday treats their employees and if that's all it takes to get you fired after 11 years of service then we all better beware of joking around and having fun in the workplace.
For your information T, Larry is a single dad that supported his daughter and granddaughter with his job at Ruby Tuesday. He does have some Native American blood in him. His daughter and granddaughter are more than half Native American. One of his best friends is African-American, the other is German and the other is Asian. He is definitely not a racist, but Ruby Tuesday did nothing to investigate and seek the truth is this matter. My brother in law is far from being a racist. I am appalled at how Ruby Tuesday handled this matter and I am encouraging him to hire and attorney and sue T for defamation of character and sue Ruby Tuesday for wrongful termination. DOES THE AMERICAN WORKER HAVE ANY RIGHTS?
