Administrators of Colchester High School,

We are petitioning in advocacy of the pursuit of learning, proactivity, and the common good of the student body in regards to the midterms and finals that you plan to administer during the 2021-22 school year, and perhaps reaching beyond this time frame as well. 
Whilst Colchester High School’s student body is recovering from and actively experiencing the trauma due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is simply barbaric to administer midterm and final exams. Students are suffering severe mental health conflicts which are only being worsened by carrying the burden of constant assessment on their academic endeavors. Students who carry the greatest potential to revolutionize their fields of interest are rapidly losing hope and breaking under the pressure of academic performance. Students are acting out and committing cruelties against authority figures due to excess mental stress. Will you serve as a mere bystander to our condition, or will you stand strong as advocates for your student body?
While it is widely acknowledged that overcoming such adverse circumstances is a key principle in life, such philosophy is not an adequate excuse as to prevent unnecessary adversities from occurring. Consequently, we refuse to sacrifice our general well-being for the sake of barbarous and falsely- measured evaluation on our intellectual prowess. 

The following signatures intend to reject the implementation of midterm and final exams during the 2021-22 school year at Colchester High School in advocacy for the mental stability and common good of all Colchester High School students:
