Christmas tree

The Issue

I've lived in Vale, North Carolina my entire life, and Christmas has always held a special place in my heart. It's not just about the holiday, but about the cherished traditions that bring our community together. Every year, seeing the grand, real Christmas tree standing tall downtown always filled me with a sense of pride similar to what one might feel when looking at the famous Rockefeller tree. It was a beautiful centerpiece for our town and a testament to our festive spirit.

This year, however, and a few years past, Lincolnton's Christmas tree has been replaced with a plastic cone version, and it just doesn't carry the same magic. The sight of the artificial tree is a stark contrast to the lush and vibrant real ones we've enjoyed in past years. My 3-year-old son, who shares my enthusiasm for the holiday season, would be flabbergasted to see a real tree standing there instead of the plastic cone currently in place.

Lincolnton deserves a Christmas tree that reflects the vibrant and lively spirit of our community. Real Christmas trees not only enhance the festive atmosphere but also create a connection to nature and tradition that a plastic tree simply cannot replicate. Moreover, supporting local tree farms by purchasing a natural tree contributes to the local economy and keeps our holiday practices sustainable.

I urge the town council of Lincolnton to reconsider this decision and bring back a real Christmas tree to grace our town square. Let's embrace tradition and give our community the beautiful, authentic holiday display it deserves. Sign this petition to help restore the true spirit of Christmas in Lincolnton and make our town a source of pride once more.
