Men come on our campus disguised in the name of God to try to convert students to Christianity. They do this through shaming students by the way they dress, what they believe, their race, sexuality, and more. Girls have to walk by in fear of getting called a whore by these men because of the leggings they are wearing. The LGBTQ+ community get called homos and are told they are sinners. Anyone who does not believe in God or who practices "sinful" behavior gets told they will go to hell. Freedom of speech should be allowed on campus but not when it is shaming the students who pay to be there. These preachers are allowed on campus because of freedom of speech, but use it to harass us which should not be allowed. They should not be allowed on campus because of the hatred they spew. They harass people of other religions, people of no religions, and anyone who is not a straight, white, modest Christian male. It is appalling that UNCC has yet to listen to the concerns of their students. Some students fear what will be said to them while they are walking to class. Tom Short is a preacher who is welcomed on campus even though he denies the violence the LGBTQ+ community experience, tells the community that they are sinning, and denounces every religion that is not Christianity. He mocks those who identify with different pronouns. He openly posts these videos on his facebook page. In the video I posted, there is one preacher who comes on campus on Thursdays who harasses the students of UNCC. This preacher (NOT Tom Short. The man in the video who I don’t know his name said this) has told us multiple times that we will die and be raped. How is this allowed?
