After viewing and researching several Care homes for our Mum, many of which you wouldn't leave a pet in, we found The Elders. We visited the home unannounced and left breathing a sigh of relief at finding a gem of a home. The home is spotlessly clean and well maintained and the team of Carers truly amazing.  

Abbeyfield who are a charity society have decided that it is a better option for them to sell 22 of their care homes in favour of "assisted living" accommodation. Assisted living is for those older people who are able to look after themselves, whereas Care Homes are for those, who through no fault of their own, are unable to look after themselves - where do these people go?

With a very serious lack of good quality, clean and caring Care Homes (with vacancies) the closure of The Elders will not only cause distress and upset to the residents but closing down not only this home but 21 others, create an even greater problem for those having to find suitable "home from home" clean, safe and caring Care Homes for their loved ones. What will happen to the poor residents who do not have families looking after them? Even if you do not yet have relatives needing Care homes, think of the future!
