Rajasthan has the dubious distinction of having one of the highest tax rates on Petrol and Diesel in India ( 38 % on Petrol and 28% on Diesel). People are forced to pay very high fuel prices due to such high tax rates. This is a huge drain on their pockets and has made prices of essential commodities and food items go sky high. Further it has resulted in lacs of litres of smuggled Diesel entering Rajasthan from neighbouring States where prices are low.

In this challenging times when people are suffering financially due to Covid Pandemic the State Govt. has increased taxes on Petrol and Diesel 3 times in the last 2 months. Today when people are finding it difficult to make ends meet this is a crude and inhuman joke that has been played by the Govt. of Rajasthan.

Thru this petition we urge the Govt.of Rajasthan to provide relief to the people of Rajasthan and immediately reduce  taxes on Petrol and Diesel and make it in line with the other States.
