STOP THE ANTI TENANT RENT CONTROL AMENDMENT

STOP THE ANTI TENANT RENT CONTROL AMENDMENT
The Issue
The Government plans to amend the Rent Control Act to increase Rent of residential and commercial premises in Mumbai by over 200 times thus making housing un-affordable!!
This will further give the landlords vast powers to evict tenants.
This will adversely affect several lakhs of people in Mumbai City.
The draft does not provide for any rent regulation or control but is a piece of malicious and fraudulent attempt to de-control all rental units, both residential and commercially and affect lakhs of tenants
Section 8 of the draft Model Act will allow landlords to demand whatever they desire as rent from their tenants after a year of the law coming into force.
While the amendment is being insisted upon as part of the Housing For All scheme, it will end up dishousing families across the country.
As per the government's property tax records, the decision will affect 1,97,130 dwelling units or 1.98 lakh families ; this translates into 9.9 lakh persons (5 per family)
This decision will affect one lakh tenanted commercial units in city
The government proven once again that they are only pro-landlord and builder.
It does not care about the common man and his problems especially qbout housing in a city like Mumbai.
RAISE YOUR VOICE. RAISE YOUR CONCERN. WE ARE THE COMMON MAN.
WE NEED PROTECTION, NOT EVICTION !
