The Issue

Bengaluru is losing the garden city tag and has lost many trees in the name of infrastructure development, recently karnataka government as tabled the proposal to discuss in cabinet meeting for elevated corridor project from K.R.Puram to Yeswanthpuram to decongest the traffic. The route map goes through the heart of the city, if approved by Karnataka government it will lead to destruction of trees, which if numbered goes more than thousands.

Even though we have elevated corridors  being constructed, it is not permanent solution to decongest the traffic, within few years of it being operational we will have same problem of traffic congestion on it.

My personal opinion on this elevated corridor is that it is short-sighted vision and not well thought considering the current growth rate and projected growth rate of bengaluru from now to 15 years down the line.

Solution 1) We already have the connectivity from K.R.puram to yeshwanthpur through local trains operating and all we need is more local trains to plight.

Solution 2) Underground Metro rail projects in case if it has to connect through the heart of city , it is understood cost is factor but overground metro rail also does not come at cheaper cost

Solution 3, 4 and 5... can be discussed if we all can think that we need to build better place for our future generation keeping in mind quality of air we breath and good health

If you all think that Bengaluru has to retain it's garden city tag and we all have role to play by preserving the trees and planting new ones in our surrounding for good quality of air and health.

Please support my petition to ask the Karnataka government to look for alternative solutions to decongest bengaluru traffic and not at cost of thousands of trees to be uprooted.
