Everyone must get emergency care without requiring 108 ambulances to carry them
The Issue
Currently in Ahmedabad as well as multiple big cities in India people are struggling with the COVID-19 situation. The spread is at its highest point and keeps increasing. At this point, multiple beds are getting opened by Ahmedabad municipality Corporation, which is good but at the same time if the patient is not carried over to the hospital by 108 Ambulance service then they are not being accepted at the hospitals or the doctors. This is really very bad rule being followed right now.
The issue with 108 Ambulance itself right now is that they have big waiting as much as 10-12 hours. The patients requiring critical care are the patients who are struggling to fight the virus and losing their oxygen level. If they don’t get the critical care and oxygen on time, the chance of saving them is completely lost. This is a very critical condition.
At this point, having such a rule in place of not admitting the patient not coming via 108 Ambulance service is really something the Government of Gujarat must change right away.
Not only that, but I also urge the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister of India to urge and even force private hospitals and doctors to provide service to increase the strength of our health care system. I also request them to ask Big Companies like Reliance, Tata, and many other big companies to come forward and provide help in multiple areas like producing Masks and PPE kits, producing more ICU unit equipment, and other types of equipment. They should also request Pharmaceutical companies to come forward and produce more critical medicines and vaccines to help fight this situation.
I request everyone to sign this petition and help support our doctors, hospitals, and health care system however we can to strengthen them - by giving any volunteer service, donating equipment, and all that can help.
