Poll was conducted whether the taxi app is success or failure. In the first 2 days the poll was showing 80% failure. And then there were comments, votes, likes mostly from Pitasys employees, HR Manager, Director and their friends to turn it into 64% success. If anyone clicks on the number "752 votes" you can see these are outsiders living in Pune, Jalgaon, Mumbai, etc. Many are students and one of them has commented "make the success cross 90%". The Taxi Revolution team did find that some felt it was success "because this is move to tame taxi mafia, they consider it a success without actually using the service". As usual, some have stated that Goamiles still owes them some money.
Misguiding people to click on Success will not help improve the service and the declining tourism. It would be professional if Goamiles informs the public the key performance indicator (KPI) which is "how many got message - No vehicle available to dispatch". They should enroll many more vehicles now as enough time is wasted in asking taxi mafia to join. Other question is how long the loot fare of Goamiles will continue, as it is more than twice in the other states. It is time for action to show results rather than hiding the truth from the public. Goa Government gave the contract to create a monopoly from outsider company with a questionable agreement that should have included penalties based on service measurement. Also this taxi app would have been an excellent opportunity for Goa's own IT startups which would have done a much better job.
An impartial survey without vested interests has to be conducted that would give a more realistic picture about Goamiles and also include Tourism survey. Among the losers due to taxi loot, the biggest stakeholder group that can pursue the change is the Hotel Association. There are various reasons for the Tourism decline and everybody blames the other party, also it's easy to record and create videos showing that somebody else is looting. The politicians want to protect their vote banks and most likely scenario is there will be many different Chief Ministers in the next decade, with no clue about Tourism. So it is time the Hotel association starts a common online survey form immediately to collect data from genuine tourists. Tourism is most likely to follow the mining decline as alternative destinations are professionally managed.
Last January Manohar Parrikar handled taxi strike very well and planned systematically to cut down taxi mafia. But one notorious BJP MLA supported the taxi mafia to make their strike successful and tame the government. They boycotted Goamiles and even started harassing the Goamiles drivers. One of the reasons for doom in tourism. In Feb MP was diagnosed with cancer and lost his determination. Goamiles is also not enrolling any new taxis and has become a puppet show of the Goa Government.
The video shows taxi mafia accusing TTAG for allowing bus operators to collect $100 in cash/passenger from tourism sites such as waterfall. They say these operators pay bribes in commission to TTAG. They are complaining that everyone wants to loot, but Indian tourist would obviously compare the fare charged outside Goa. TTAG has vested interest not to allow Ola Uber and wants to enforce outdated and obsolete taxi meters which have been discontinued in cities all over the world and are practically impossible to implement in Goa given the mafia raj. If the government had invited Ola Uber to the state it would have collected hefty amount in taxes.
Grievance lodged with Prime Minister GOVGO/E/2019/00012. Next poll will be on 24th Feb 2019.
