The Indian constitution - The Competition Act, 2002(+2007), prohibits anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position by enterprises and regulates combinations (acquisition, acquiring of control and Mergers & Amagamation), which causes or likely to cause an appreciable adverse effect on competition within India. The Competition Commission of India (CCI), estd by Central Government to eliminate practices having adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition, protect the interests of consumers and ensure freedom of trade in the markets of India are working on this.

We conducted a survey on Facebook and 99% of those who signed this petition have responded that they would like competition from Ola/Uber in Goa. GoaMiles doesn't serve the purpose for local transportation. Hope the Competition Commission of India is able to respond to the call from Goans.

GoaMiles is the illegal Monopoly setup by the Goa Government denying the fundamental right of every Goan. The exorbitant fares are charged by GoaMiles. Lack of affordable mobility to tourists has doomed the business for Hotel & Restaurant industry. As taxi mafia wants to loot, the Tourism business worth in crores is affected affecting half the population of Goa. The elected representatives have neglected Tourism business and are fully responsible for current state of doom. The Government is opening tender for expensive & obsolete taxi meters.

The other states are taking away the Tourism business - e.g Andhra Pradesh Tourism has partnered with Ola for boosting tourism and creating 25000 jobs. Ola also has partnered with state governments in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Maharashtra for skilling of people and other states. Ola has also partnered with Mahendra for pollution free electric vehicles of the future, with Microsoft for connected car platform. Sindudurg airport which is at short distance from the beaches opens this week and will add to the competition. Tourism numbers for other states is a wake-up call for Goa as per the article below in Herald.

International Tourists base their decisions on indexes and ratings - Ground transport infrastructure on forums rather than word of mouth (quality of roads, buses, subways, taxis, presence of aggregators and major car rental companies). Today's tourist is a Free Independent Traveler and requires affordable mobility to make best of the vacation.

We hope the Central Government will take action to open up the competition from Ola and Uber. Complaint filed with this content PM Narendra Modi  GOVGO/E/2019/00043 - 6 Mar 2019
