While the SC judgement yesterday asking Unitech to deposit 15 Crores INR(150 Million INR) for principal amount refunds to buyers who sought refunds, people are still wary on interest component to be paid which will be decided on 04 Oct as reported in 'The Hindustan Times" dated 18th August-Gurgaon edition. Many have taken home loans and are still paying EMI's for the same. There is a large section of buyers who still want possession and a compensation for all the delay. Unitech clout and influence is well known now and so is their notorious stand. Haryana Govt senior officials are trying to get a micro level plan for each delayed project. Our reverred Judiciary and Apex Court SC needs to take a balanced view and also factor apprehensions based on actual experience by buyers that interest component cheques are not honoured and people have to further spend money and litigate. Why should such a step happen? Is Unitech an exception from all in India? Why cant SC mandate such terms clearly on 04 October. This is a burning case at present and can result in another Kingfisher robbing tens of thousands and a further chaos in the real estate industry. I also appeal to the top Govt machinery to closely monitor the situation now. It is clear that Unitech has Congress Party's support given that a battery of renouned congress leaders and lawyers have been representing them in the last 1 year in this case to corner gullible home buyers. But we are hopeful that SC will mete out justice eventually and set an example.
