CPSP Part 2 Examinations: Low PASS Rates due to a very "Subjective" Assessment System
The Issue
Assalam OAlaikum,
Candidates who are taking Part 2 Examinations are the ones who have completed their extensive postgraduate trainings.
They are at a stage when they have growing responsibilites, old parents and a young family to cater for. Most of them if not all are forced to do double jobs due to harsh financial conditions.
The current scenario and outcome of CPSP Part 2 Exams are quite discouraging with very low PASS Rates. Candidates have long raised the issues of serious subjective assessment mechanisms as well as an overtly stringent passing criteria. And then there is wide variations among various examination Centers too.
This is leading to serious financial & associated psychosocial difficulties not only for these postgraduate doctors but also their families.
A recent comparative analysis (prepared by a few astute candidates) provides a very clear insight into the fact that CPSP has extremely low passing rates in comparison to leading international Medical Examination bodies.
We need your support to highlight these critical issues so that CPSP Authorities can take this up and rectify the needs on a strictly merit basis.
All we request is:
1. Transparency
2. Objective vs Subjective Assessment System with a third Examiner for Audit
3. Alignment with International Examinations with respect to Attempts allowed after clearing written examination.
4. Alignment of Pass Rates as per International Examinations
5. A Structured feedback mechanism for failing candidates highlighting deficiencies.
6. CCTV Monitoring of Exams and formal right of Appeal
7. Formal training of both the candidates as well as examiners on Professional Approach in areas of difference of opinion and mutual respect.
8. Award MCPS Degree to all those candidates who have cleared IMM and are eligible to sit in FCPS Part 2 Exam.
In Pakistan, we are terribly short of doctors in various specialities. This bottleneck is only compounding the problems in HealthCare sector.
Please support this cause by signing this petition as it's not just a matter of postgraduate trainees. It goes way beyond that.
Jazzakallah khair.
