A strict school dress code can hinder creative expression in students, and a dress code suspension can take focus away from education. Why can teachers wear what they want and students can’t? I have asked several students what they think of the dress code and this is there response… It limits students ability to freely express themself through how they dress. The way one chooses to dress is part of their freedom of speech. It makes a statement about who they are. Dress codes take away majority of that freedom. Dress codes are also incredibly sexist and discriminating. Eight out of ten times, they target the female students, making them feel like their body is a negative thing. Girls get the blame if a male student is distracted by her body. In my opinion, that's almost criminal. Making a girl feel shameful about her body is absolutely disgusting. Dress codes are limiting students to freely express themselves and are discriminatory towards female students. It is unfair to poor families cause that means they have to go out and buy special clothes just for school. It also makes students not want to go to school, and targets their learning. This is a public school so there is no point in it, if it was a private school then I would understand.
