Save our gym, revoke planning permission (currently total fitness in Crewe)

The Issue

We have recently had the unfortunate news that Total Fitness in Crewe is due to close its doors on the 31st August. Although it maybe to late to stop this from happening, what I propose to the council is to revoke future planning permission for the land. Crewe has a shortage of swimming pools, this gym has unique facilities that are key for over 4000 members of our local community. Mental health is a real issue at the moment and the gym/swimming pool offers an all round exercising experience for the whole family which is vital for the health and wellbeing of the community.

The gym and swimming facilities help to keep our local communities happier and healthier, with an already overwhelmed NHS we need to protect our facilities that could potentially create more issues with increased diabetes rates and higher obesity as a direct result of the loss.

The swimming pool is also home to a swim school offering lessons to over 300 children. The other pools are already overwhelmed with children, if the use of the building we're to change this will result in more children in our local area deprived of the opportunity to learn the fundamental lifesaving skill of swimming.

We need more facilities that encourage us to improve our health and wellbeing. Let's stand together to show the local council, this gym, this pool this whole facility is essential for our recovery out of this pandemic. Please do not flatten to build even more houses/flats/garages we don't need. Please sign and show your support.
