The Cherokee County School Board is currently conducting a feasibility study to close Martin’s Creek School. If their findings are in favor of closing the school, they would be moving our kids temporarily to another school (perhaps even in trailers/portable units), until they consolidate completely and move them again in just a few years. How can our kids ever feel at home in a school again like they do now? What will be the sociological and psychological impact on our kids and how will that translate academically for them?

A lot of us will not continue to keep our children in the Cherokee County School system should they decide to close Martin’s Creek School. We would seek our educational needs for our children through a neighboring county, The Learning Center Charter School, home schooling or even seeking our own community charter here in Martin’s Creek.
