Switch from the use of plastic bags to paper bags. The sale of eco-friendly bags has not had a large enough positive impact on the environment due to the large continual purchasing of plastic bags. Although we can purchase eco-friendly bags, not everyone does. The fact that the population has a choice between purchasing eco-friendly bags or plastic bags has resulted in the population mostly buying plastic bags out of convenience. A large portion of the population still buys plastic bags when purchasing from major retailers.  Major retailers are also partly responsible for the impact these plastic bags have on the environment, especially the ocean. Major retailers must transition from selling plastic bags to paper bags in order to help reduce the impact that humanity has on the environment.
