As someone who has many friends who are student employees at Chatham University, I've heard horror stories where students have not received paychecks for nearly a month and a half after the first day of the pay period. This is a long time to wait to receive payment for a month's worth of work - especially considering we are living in a global pandemic where it is hard for anyone to make ends meet right now, and especially difficult for college students: economically, physically, and mentally. In fact, a study by the American Association of Colleges and Universities finds that as of 2018, 42% of college students live below the poverty line; in a time where it is increasingly hard to find employment and pay our bills, it is essential that Chatham student employees be paid efficiently and consistently. 

Considering most jobs outside of the university send out paychecks biweekly, and students likely have bills to pay monthly, this puts student employees at a financial disadvantage. We believe students at Chatham University should be paid biweekly, rather than monthly, in order to receive efficient payments for their hard work.
