At the June school board meeting the board voted not to renew Travis Bartels coaching contract.  (Meaning they fired him.) The only reason that the board wants to give us is that our coach of 20 plus years who was voted as one of the best coaches in the state, who has produced many State Qualifying teams, State Qualifying individuals, State Champions, & even Team State Championships did not meet "standards and expectations". Coach Bart is never afraid to stand up for any kid in need. Now the wrestling team and community has asked us to stand up with them and get their coach back. Coach Bartels is always 110% invested in his whole team with helping them achieve their goals on and off the mat. He is not only their for their victories but is the first one there build them back up after they lose. The Chatfield Wrestling Community has seen many great young men help be molded by Coach Bartels over the years. Many of these men have chosen to come back and help support his coaching staff because they believe in him. Over the years the wrestling community in Chatfield has become a big "family". The meets are never empty. The crowd is always so loud it shakes the room. Every wrestler on the team is supported and cheered for.  And over the years our "Family" has learned from our coaches and wrestlers to shoot your shots, stay off your back, and never ever give up. Because we know that the biggest upsets come from the ones who never back down and keep their eye on the prize. So please help us STAND UP for Coach Bartels and sign this petition to reinstate Travis Bartels as Head Coach. Together we can create an upset that our current wrestlers, past wrestlers, and fans will never forget because we were able to return our gratitude to a dedicated, passionate, amazing Coach whose blood, sweat and tears has help build our wrestling program and has more than earned his place on OUR TEAM.
